“You’re in the right place if…”

If something in your life feels off — your head, your mood, your relationship, your direction — you’re not broken. You’re likely caught in a pattern that’s become exhausting to carry alone.

You might recognise this:

  • Your mind won’t switch off — you’re always scanning, analyzing, bracing.
  • You’re functioning on the outside, but running on empty inside.
  • Stress is leaking into your relationship, your mood, or your confidence.
  • You feel reactive, flat, or overwhelmed — and you’re sick of it. You know something needs to change… you’re just not sure where to start.

This is where we begin: we slow things down, name what’s really happening, and build a practical way forward — step by step — until you feel steadier, clearer, and back in charge of your next move.

Start with a free 15-minute consult — or book a session if you’re ready.

Meet Gareth

I’m Gareth — founder of Christchurch Therapy and a Mental Wellness Practitioner based in Christchurch, working online with people across New Zealand.

My work is therapy-informed and practical. I help people make sense of what’s going on underneath the surface, regulate their system, and take clear steps forward — especially when anxiety, stress, burnout, or simply that sense that something isn’t working has become the background noise of everyday life.

If you’ve been carrying things quietly for a long time, you’re not alone — and you don’t need a perfect explanation to begin.

Feedback from people I’ve worked with

“My anxiety was really bad, to the point where I was having panic attacks and couldn’t go to work. After working with Gareth and learning how anxiety works I was able to get back to work. I feel like I’m in control of my anxiety.“

"I was stuck in a bad habit that was shameful and didn’t fit with the person I strive to be. I found that talking through my thought processes in relation to my bad habit gave me ability to discover strategies for long term change. I have been able to achieve change through approaching situations with a different mindset which I have found very valuable.

“I have battled with low mood and depression throughout my life. Learning tools and techniques on how to make my mood stable has helped me a lot. Thanks"
Steve.

What Christchurch Therapy is here for

No two people are the same, and no two journeys are either. That’s why therapy here is tailored to you—your story, your challenges, and the life you want to move toward.

At Christchurch Therapy, I draw from a blend of psychology, counselling, and life coaching techniques. Together, we’ll find an approach that feels right for you and supports the changes you’re hoping to make.

Some of the common areas I work with include:

Anxiety – finding ways to quiet the mind and ease the constant worry

Depression – gently lifting low mood and reconnecting with hope

Lifestyle Changes – building healthier habits and creating balance

Confidence & Self Esteem – rebuilding belief in yourself and your authentic self.

Through every step of the process, the focus is on giving you real value—tools you can actually use, insights that make a difference, and support that helps you move forward.

The goal is simple: to help you create meaningful results in your life.

Areas I help with

People reach out for different reasons, but these are the most common:

Anxiety & overthinking — easing the worry loop, reducing reactivity, calming the system

Low mood & motivation — regaining momentum, meaning, and steadiness

Burnout & stress — restoring balance, boundaries, and energy

Lifestyle change & direction — habits, identity shifts, decisions, and next steps

Confidence & self-trust — strengthening the inner voice and backing yourself again

How this works

No two people are the same — so sessions are tailored to you, your context, and what you want to move toward.

My approach draws from therapy-informed frameworks, coaching-style clarity work, and practical regulation tools. We keep it grounded and usable — not just insight, but change you can actually live.

A simple way to think about the process

Understand the pattern — what’s happening, what triggers it, what keeps it going

Regulate first — calm the system so you can think clearly again

Create clarity — what matters, what’s true, what needs to shift

Build momentum — small steps, practical tools, consistent follow-through

The aim is not perfection — it’s steady progress and a clearer relationship with yourself.

What can I expect

Starting can feel daunting — especially if you’ve been managing quietly for a long time. My job is to make the process clear, calm, and straightforward.

You can expect:

A confidential, non-judgemental space

A practical, steady pace (not pressure, not fluff)

Tools you can use between sessions

A focus on outcomes that matter in real life — work, relationships, confidence, direction

Free 15-minute consult (first step)

We’ll start with a free 15-minute phone consult.
It’s a relaxed, confidential chat to understand what’s going on, what you’re wanting, and whether this feels like the right fit. No pressure — just clarity.

If it’s a good fit, we’ll book your first session and take it from there.

Where to from here

If you’re ready to begin, the next step is simple.

Start with a free 15-minute consult — a calm conversation to get clarity on what’s happening and what support could look like.

If you already know you’re ready, you can also book a full session straight away.
