Frequently Asked Questions for Counselling

“When I wanted to reach out for help, I wasn’t sure what to expect or where to begin – the whole process was quite daunting. ” – This is something one of my clients recently mentioned to me, and a common theme I have heard throughout my work.

To be honest what this person was describing above is spot on. It can be really daunting to reach out for help and engage in the therapy process and I appreciate how tough this can be. There are a lot of “unknown’s“ of how things work especially if counselling is a new experience.

With this blog post I hope to answer a few of these common questions, give you a n insight into the therapy process and hopefully in turn will help answer any questions you may have.

Before we get into it a quick disclaimer – I can’t speak on behalf of all counselling and therapy facilities and how they operate. What I can cover though is how Christchurch Therapy works and what you can expect if you engage in the therapy process. This would cover  both Counselling and Life coaching services.

What can I expect?

I understand that engaging in any type of therapy can be an intimidating experience. At Christchurch Therapy our focus is to make this experience as welcoming and stress free as possible.

Throughout the entire process you will experience a friendly, confidential, and non-judgemental environment.

Initially we would complete the free phone consultation. This consultation gives you a chance you to see if Christchurch Therapy is a right fit for you. We would have a confidential chat about what has bought you to therapy, goals you are hoping achieve form therapy and answer any questions you may have. I would look to share details about the treatment options available, whether it be more short term, results focussed or long term therapy.

 Because life has many demands of us with a busy schedules; job and family commitments, Christchurch Therapy works to accommodate this as much as possible with flexibility around appointment times. Times are available throughout the day and also into evenings.
